Whitin Community Center Congratulates Spring American Red Cross Learn to Swim Program Graduates! The Whitin Community Center is proud to announce the graduates from the American Red Cross Swimming Program from its Spring session. The American Red Cross Learn to Swim program is a comprehensive training program that teaches people to swim and to help them be safe in, on or around water. The program includes swimming courses for all age groups and abilities via six levels of instruction. The six levels of learn-to-swim instruction help swimmers of all ages and abilities develop their swimming and water safety skills. It is designed to give students a positive learning experience. American Red Cross Learn to Swim teaches aquatic and safety skills in a logical progression. The objective is to teach people to swim and to be safe in, on and around the water. The six learn-to-swim levels and the objectives for each level include: § Level 1 - Introduction to Water Skills. Helps students feel comfortable in the water and to enjoy the water safely. § Level 2 - Fundamental Aquatic Skills. Gives students success with fundamental skills. § Level 3 - Stroke Development. Builds on the skills in Level 2 by providing additional guided practice. § Level 4 - Stroke Improvement. Develops confidence in the strokes learned and to improve other aquatic skills. § Level 5 - Stroke Refinement. Provides further coordination and refinement of strokes. § Level 6 - Swimming and Skill Proficiency. Refines the strokes so students swim them with ease, efficiency, power and smoothness over greater distances. Level 6 is designed with "menu" options. Each of these options focuses on preparing students to participate in more advance courses, such as Water Safety Instructor and Lifeguard Training. These options include: · Personal Water Safety · Lifeguard Readiness · Fundamentals of Diving · Fitness Swimming The graduates from Level 1 are Cameron Fausch, Elizabeth Whitney, and Nicholas Whitney from Douglas; Srikar Poruri, Aravind Kamal, Tyler Monteros and Wyatt Murray from Grafton; Madison Howanth from Hopedale; Kevin Scott, Megan Loffel, Luke Casey, Paige Garrison, and Woody Garrigan from Linwood; Justin Limanek and Michael Sherman from Sutton; Erin Bailey, Karrot O’Toole and Zach Halbrow from Upton; Erin Newhall, Hannah Sharma, Adam Cook and Tony Morais from Uxbridge; and Abigail Banks, Nathaniel Beauchaine, Grace Robinson, William Boa, John Chapman, and Dylan Adams from Whitinsville.
Level 2 graduates include Kaitlyn Reber and Ryan Smith from Douglas; Alec Molinari from Grafton; Nicholas and Nicole Spinelle from Hopedale; Tyler Wetherbee from Millbury; Nicholas Consoletti from Mendon; Megan Lingren and Theta Chosta from Northbridge; Allison Rota and Christopher Sherman from Sutton; Morina Yasuna and Andrew Descheneaux from Upton; Joey and Brittany Dubois, Robert Wondolowski and Alex Teare from Uxbridge; and Bailey Gideon, Lexi Cilibato, Charlotte Murphy, Victoria Lind from Whitinsville.
The graduates from Level 2/3 are Jonathan Carafotes from Sutton and Harrison Mansfield and Olivia Picotte from Uxbridge.
Level 3 graduates are Lindsey Thunberg from Auburn; Sarah Malone and Kaitlyn Rheber from Douglas; Suprabhat Gurrala, Somhita Gurrala, Siddarth Annaldasula, Benjamin Nguyn, and Niley Barde from Grafton; Rachael Hiori and Brendan Fitzpatrick from Millbury; Nick Mongeon, Ryan Elster, and Ryan Mlynaryk from Sutton; Shania Aston from Upton; Pierce Wrong from Uxbridge; and Mitchel Mazur, Jake Gulinello, Logan Ciliberto, and Andrew Belanger from Whitinsville.
The graduates from Level 4 are Aaron Hanley from Douglas; Liesil Siemen from Grafton; Bo Ostoin, Alexandra Lingren, and Caitlyn Warrington from Northbridge; Steven Anderson from Uxbridge; Emma O’Brien from Whitinsville; and Katelyn Grover from Pascoag, RI.
Level 5 graduates are Eli Yasuna; Victoria Nagure from Hopedale; Jess and Elizabeth Monroe from Millville; and Victoria Picotte from Uxbridge.
The only graduate from Level 6 is Jacob Lachabell from Whitinsville.
