MARCH MAYHEM AT THE ROCKDALE YOUTH CENTER
MARCH MAYHEM AT THE ROCKDALE YOUTH CENTER
The Whitin Community Center’s Rockdale Youth Center is proud to announce that the winner of this year’s 5th annual March Mayhem is Zachary Bernard of Northbridge.
March Mayhem is run during the month of March to create excitement and energy at the Youth Center during what is normally the longest month of the year for children. March has no days off and it is cold outside. Children get points for doing their homework, reading, helping others, cleaning the building, partaking in daily activities and good behavior. This year, children also accumulated points for donating pennies to the Youth Center.
Thirty-one children participated in this year’s March Mayhem. Zachary won March Mayhem with 13, 478 points. His brother, Travis (not pictured), finished 2nd with 13,109 points. Kailee Lawrence was third with 12, 765 points and Rachael Zaidel (the former two-time champion) finished fourth with 11,988 points.
Total pennies collected by all participants totaled $524.81 for the Rockdale Youth Center.
For finishing first, Zach received a trophy, a gift certificate to the new Super Wal-Mart in Northbridge, and his name is placed on the Wall of Fame plaque inside the Youth Center.
Assistant Executive Director, Brett MacGowan, says, “We are proud of all the children who participated. We couldn’t believe it when children were carrying in buckets of pennies. It went down to the wire on the last day in March and all the children showed enthusiasm and good sportsmanship. Congratulations to everyone!”
